6th Annual Corn Fest: Fête du Maïs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Kahnawà:ke (Seskeha/ August 20, 2024)

In a world full of peas; be a sweetcorn. Corn season is back! Kahnawà:ke Tourism has partnered with Maison LePailleur for the upcoming Corn Fest: Fête du Maïs. We are proud to present the 6th edition of the Corn Fest at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10am to 5pm showcasing the art, culture, and food of our local people.

The food fest initiative was created in 2016, to showcase our traditional foods that coincide with our cycle of ceremonies to visitors and community members alike. The Food Fests are a fun, respectful and economically beneficial way in which to share our culture, without disrupting the local environment. We are encouraging all local artisans and food vendors to get involved by having corn themed items or menu as we celebrate corn.

“We are excited to be hosting the Corn Fest again in partnership with Maison LePailleur and building our relationship with the museum. We encourage locals and visitors to come out for a day full of festivities” said Bronwyn Johns, Public Relations.

“In the midst of the beginning of the corn season, our team is very glad to renew it’s partnership with Kahnawà:ke, in order to collaborate on this 2024 edition of the Corn Festival. At Maison LePailleur, we have been working for years in the spirit of forging and strengthening the close ties that unites us and brings us together, with the Kanien’kehà:ka community. The Corn Festival is for all of us, a wonderful occasion to celebrate and to share our cultures and traditions, a project that is very close to our hearts and part of our values. Happy Corn Fest Day!” said Genevieve Renaud, on behalf of the team at Maison Lepailleur.
